Soft and moody, these are colour enhanced Akoya pearls from the saltwaters of Japan. From far away one might say these are gray pearls, but up close you can see blue, green, pink and purple hues. In the late afternoon sun I see warm brown cocoa tones. This is from an interference phenomenon where the light reflects off multiple layers of the pearl nacre creating a shifting of spectral colours. The spherical clasp suits it perfectly!
