Smoky Illusion

This smoky quartz is set in an "illusion" setting. It's meant to make a gemstone look bigger than it actually is. This is accomplished by surrounding the girdle of the gem with a ring of angled metal. This ring diffuses the outline of the stone causing it to look larger. With all these added reflections, it adds that extra sparkle.
